I talked to two very knowledgable veteran UFO researchers (Joe Fex of Colorado and Andrew Hennessey of Scotland) and asked them if they had ever seen a UFO shape like the one depicted by Rick Smith. Neither one of them had ever seen any kind of UFO or airplane that came anywhere close to looking like what Rick had drawn. [One of our Memphis MUFON members said it bore some rough resemblance to the experimental Falcon jet that first appeared in our skies in 1958] Jay Billings a Tennessee MUFON member and a Physicist at Oak Ridge Laboratories [which by the way is just twenty miles north of where this 1999 "Klingon" craft was seen] took a look at Rick's drawing and said it certainly didn't look aerodynamic to him. He then added that it looked quite phallic to him. I believe a lot of people who saw my article in the MUFON Journal must have thought that the Kingston, TN "Klingon" ship described by the witness was more fantasy than fact.

But now I have some powerful confirmation that what our witness said he saw he actually DID see. About a week ago a MUFON Field Investigator in Pittsburgh who had seen my MUFON Journal article got cold chills when he was privileged to see a few weeks afterwards an actual photograph taken in 1943 in New Mexico of practically a carbon copy of what Rick had depicted. This Field Investigator had been at a local MUFON meeting when someone mentioned a recent sighting in Pennsylvania of a strange looking UFO which the witness had said looked like a klingon ship from Star Trek. Then a man at the meeting spoke up and told the group that his father had taken a photograph of a "Klingon" ship in New Mexico in 1943. After his father's death in 2003, he kept this in a safe deposit box at his bank and had never shown it in public. He agreed to show it to the group the next day. When the above-mentioned Field Investigator saw this photograph, he  immediately saw the uncanny resemblance to the drawing in my MUFON article.

He wasted no time contacting me to tell me the whole story. He said he would ask the man who had the photo if he would send a copy to me for analysis. The man agreed to do this ; I suppose because I am the Tennessee State MUFON Director and presumably in a position to get some top photo-analyst from the MUFON organization to examine it. The man also agreed to talk to me on the phone. I called him a few days later and had quite a lengthy conversation with him. He told me his father who had been in the Marine corps at the time he  took the picture had kept this a dark secret from everyone his whole life ; that is, until twenty minutes before he died. At that point, with just he and his son in the hospital room, he suddenly roused from half-unconsciousness to total lucidity and told his son to go look in the back of an old family Bible (itself well-hidden away) where he would find a photograph of a UFO that he (the father) had taken while driving through New Mexico on leave in 1943. This photo was taken with a 110-X Brownie camera.

How he came to take this photograph is quite an interesting story in itself and actually makes an errie connection with the 1999 Tennessee "Klingon" ship sighting. In my next installment I will give the full account of this.

[Postscript : I am going to be receiving the original negative and will give a complete update on what is concluded from the photo-analyis. In the meantime I have been given permission to publish this photo  to the world. If anyone knows of a UFO sighting like this one, I would be extremely greatful to hear about it. I suspect that this is the only photograph ever taken of this extremely unusual UFO.]

To be continued.

Seconde livraison annoncée :

Continuation from previous article on "smoking gun" photo of "Klingon ship" UFO

The man* who shot this amazing photograph in 1943 with a Brownie 110-X camera was in the U.S. Marine corps at the time, stationed in San Diego, California. The following is a transcript from the letter his son wrote to me last week : "My dad was a sea Marine diver and [had been] stationed in San Diego near a Navy base. He received orders to go to a Navy base in Idaho to assist as a diver to help the men in training. They had a part of a full size front end of an aircraft carrier in one part of a lake where they would have the men line-up and jump over into the water where my dad and another diver [would be] under water waiting for them. Every now and then [when] a man would get turned around and swim down instead of up, ... my dad would get to them and start them up."

On the day in question when the photograph was taken, he got up at 2 AM to leave for his new assignment in Idaho. "He left San Diego and should have gone up 395 to Oregon and gotten on 20 E into Idaho...he started up on 395 but all was a blur until he found himself on route 60 in New Mexico going the wrong way. He then got on old 25 N. to Bernalillo and got on 44 to Aztec, New Mexico. [ His son remembers the only reference his father ever made to this episode of his getting lost was in 1958 when he (the son) was sixteen and in the Scouts "and getting ready to go to Cimarron Scout Ranch for 13 days. As I got ready to leave my  dad said 'that's near where I got messed up leaving San Diego that time and ended up over on 44 to Aztec when I was to be in Idaho the next day.' And that's all that was said about that until on his death bed."]

The first time his son heard about his father's strange encounter in the New Mexico desert in 1943 was in the last twenty minutes of his father's life. Continuing from the letter : "As I sat there holding his hands, he was dying, not breathing now and then. Now my dad and I are the only two in the room. As I sat there, I felt a hand on my left shoulder pushing down and a whisper in my ear, 'be strong my son.' I turned around and no one was there when my dad said, 'pay attention, my son.' For at least 15 minutes he talked to me about the good times we had in my young life, and then he said, "in the black picture book in a brown envelope there is a picture of a UFO I took along 44 to Aztec. As I drove up 44 to Idaho something told me to stop and get out and look that way,' and he did with a Browning camera in hand, and was standing there listening to a slight hum coming down from the sky. 'I got my camera ready and took a picture. The Negative for it is in my Bible in the back 8 pages." A few minutes after  this amazing revelation to his son that had waited a lifetime to be told, the father died.

Shortly afterwards the son put the photo in a safe deposit box at his bank. There it remained, still closeted away, until August, 2009 when it finally saw the light of day at a Pittsburg, Pennsylvania MUFON gathering a few weeks ago.  Read my previous article to see how I came to possess a copy of this photograph and how I will soon receive the original Negative for analyis. After the authenticity of this "Klingon ship" UFO photo is well enough established by examination of this Negative, the photo along with the whole story behind it (in cluding comments by some top photo-analyst ) will be published in some magazine like the MUFON Journal or Fate. At that time the names of the father and son will be made public, even along with a photograph of the father in his Marine uniform, also taken in 1943.

[ Postscript : I'm sure that the suspicious speculation has not escaped many of my readers that this man who has made this amazing posthumous contribution of the "Klingon ship" newcomer  to the photo files of Ufology 67 years after the event  was deliberately directed by the intelligence behind the UFO to be at the exact place and time he was to get such a privileged snap-shot. It doesn't sound like happenstance to me!]

And finally, the Tennessee man who saw the "Klingon ship" in 1999 [see my previous Examiner article "Spooky night visit by 'Klingons' in rural east Tennessee] was possibly also led by them to get up from bed at 5 AM to walk out on his front porch at exactly the right time to catch a glimpse of their departing craft. And I cannot resist the forced speculation that both of these "Klingon ship" sighters were contactees and/or abductees..

Video footage of 'Klingon' UFO, newcomer to the photo files of Ufology

First there was the drawing of the "Klingon" UFO that my webmaster Rick Smith did for my article in the July issue of the MUFON Journal. The drawing was based on the eyewitness description of a Tennessee man who saw this strangely-shaped craft in 1999. Then the serendipitous surfacing just a few weeks later of the 1943 "smoking-gun" daylight photo of the "Klingon" UFO in the skies of New Mexico that bore an utterly uncanny resemblance to Rick's drawing. Now by the research effort of Joe Fex of Colorado, apparent actual video footage of the "Klingon" UFO has been discovered. It was taken in Brewster, New York in 1984 over the Hudson Valley. See for yourself if you don't think this is the same weird craft. Even though the video is of a nighttime sighting, the lighting configurtion on the craft shows this to be very likely the same Klingon-shaped UFO.

Wow!!! This thing has been around for 67 years and is just now getting its proper recognition. After you do a careful comparison of the drawing, the photo, and the video tape, you probably will also say, "wow!!!"
